Camp Portfolio...........

Some students have asked for a reminder of the portfolio to be handed in from the camp.

All students will hand in their portfolio at the end of Week 5, Term 4. They will have been worked on during class time but will need time spent on them at home too. Students are encouraged to have specific items signed off as the assignment progresses to be assured of work meeting the required standard.

It is expected that the portfolio will be in the form of a power point presentation. All work will be drafted in draft writing books first and conferenced with the teacher before working on the class computers. Handwritten work may be scanned into the powerpoint. This may be a good way to present the camp layout section.

Final presentations will be displayed in hard copy in the school library.

Each student may choose the level of attainment they wish to strive for.

Achieved Level
• Cover page
• Overview – stating who, what, where, why, when, how
• Diagram of layout and use of the different areas of the camp
• Timetable of each days activities for your team
• Name each of the activities on a separate page…..
- describe the activity
- name highlights and challenges for you
- name challenges you saw others conquer
- use photographs to illustrate

Achieved with Merit
• As above plus…
• include significant personal reflection

Achieved with Excellence
• As above … plus
• Make a positive contribution to ……eg
- Vertical Horizon camp trust
- Our schools next visit
You could decide your own criteria for excellence… or use the following ideas to help. This task must have a social outcome.
 Design a pamphlet for use by Vertical Horizon for publicity
 Design a board (or other) game that could be used by other groups preparing to go or after their camp. This game could be used if campers were inside because of excess rain.
 Make an action plan (including time line) for a possible 2011 camp to assist the teachers and parents in their preparation. This would need to include ideas from this year that we didn’t plan for, ideas that would have been good that we didn’t think of, letters /information for campers or parent helpers…. etc etc
